mii-Bio Semiconductor Solution- From Sugarcane to Silicon

Our proprietary “mii-Bioprocess” is a light-controlled bioproduction system that uses light to regulate microbial metabolism.

Our Product

mii-Bio Semiconductor Solution

mii-Bioprocess is light-controlled biomanufacturing to produce PHBA, a 100% bio-based monomer used in LCP (Liquid Crystal Polymer) for semiconductor connectors, replacing petrochemicals while enabling high-performance advanced electronics.

Description of the products

Decarbonization is just the prelude for humanity.
The ultimate challenge is "moving beyond oil.

Semiconductor connectors and advanced electronics rely on high-performance chemicals traditionally made from petroleum. Mii-Bioprocess creates these chemicals from renewable biomass through a proprietary process using light to control microbial metabolism.

One key product is 100% bio-based PHBA, used to make LCP (Liquid Crystal Polymer) for fine-pitch connectors, films and other electronics. The resulting PHBA has the same molecular structure as petroleum-derived PHBA, allowing it to serve as a drop-in alternative without major changes to existing LCP production. Unlike mass-balance approaches, its carbon is physically derived from biomass and can be verified by radiocarbon analysis.

While companies and research institutions are developing bio-aromatic chemicals, to miibio's knowledge, bio-PHBA has not reached commercial production for LCP applications. This combination of performance, compatibility and reduced petroleum dependence differentiates mii-Bioprocess.

mii-Bioprocess brings together researchers and industry specialists from leading institutions with expertise in biotechnology, fermentation and commercialization. The team is developing a new pathway from renewable biomass to high-performance products for advanced electronics. Feedstocks can include sugars from sugarcane, cassava and corn, as well as cellulosic biomass after saccharification, creating opportunities for production closer to renewable resources.

Mission

Creating What the
Future World Needs

For a long time, petroleum-derived chemical products have supported the development of an affluent and convenient human society. However, accelerating climate change and impending limits to fossil resources mean that we must fundamentally transform the world into a decarbonized society. At miibio, we innovate by adding optical control to biomanufacturing to create what the future truly needs.
